Video Studio: Lyrics & Text
Video Studio includes a full-featured text system for adding synced lyrics, promotional text, or subtitles to your videos.
Text Layers
Every text layer renders as an overlay on top of your background visuals. You can have multiple text layers for different purposes (e.g., one for lyrics, one for a watermark).
Adding Text
- Click the + button in the Layer Panel
- Select Text
- A new text layer appears in the layer list and timeline
- Use the Properties Panel to enter and style your text
Text Styling Options
The Properties Panel provides full control over text appearance:
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Font Family | Choose from available system fonts |
| Font Size | Adjust text size in pixels |
| Font Weight | Regular, bold, or semi-bold |
| Fill Color | Text color (hex or color picker) |
| Alignment | Left, center, or right aligned |
| Anchor | Control which corner/edge the text anchors to |
| Position | X/Y coordinates on the canvas |
| Scale | Resize the text element |
| Rotation | Rotate the text at any angle |

Text Animations
Text layers support simple entrance and exit animations:
- Fade in / Fade out — Text gradually appears and disappears
- Slide in / Slide out — Text enters from an edge and exits
Lyrics Import & Export
Video Studio supports the LRC format for timed lyrics.
Importing LRC Files
- Select a text layer
- Click Import LRC in the Properties Panel
- Paste your LRC content into the text area
- Click Import — each line is parsed with its timing data
LRC format example:
[00:12.00] First line of lyrics
[00:16.50] Second line of lyrics
[00:21.00] Third line of lyricsEnhanced Word Timing
Video Studio supports extended LRC tags for word-level timing:
[00:12.00] <00:12.00> First <00:12.30> line <00:12.60> of <00:12.80> lyricsExporting to LRC
Click Export LRC to download your lyrics as a standard LRC file with word timing tags. This is useful for backup or importing into other tools.
Plain Text Paste
If you don't have an LRC file, you can paste plain text. Each line is treated as a separate lyric line, and you can adjust timing manually in the timeline.
Line Timing
Each lyric line appears as a block in the Timeline. You control when each line appears and disappears.
Adjusting Line Timing
- Drag a lyric block left or right to change its start time
- Drag the edges to change its duration (start or end time)
- Click a lyric block to select it and show its properties
Line-Level Controls
When a lyric line is selected, the Properties Panel shows:
- Start and end time
- Text content (editable)
- Style overrides for that specific line
Word Timing
For precise word-level sync, Video Studio provides word timing chips.
Word Timing Chips
When a lyric line is selected, the Properties Panel displays each word as an individual chip. Each chip shows:
- The word text
- Its start time
Tap-to-Mark Workflow
The fastest way to sync word timing:
- Play the video
- Click the Tap button as each word is sung
- Each tap sets the start time for the next word
This creates natural, rhythm-accurate word timing without manual time entry.
Manual Word Timing
You can also click individual word chips and type exact timestamps for precise control.
Text Templates
Video Studio ships with a default text template that places lyrics in a readable safe-zone stack:
- Text is inset from the edges (10% top, 15% bottom, 8% sides)
- Lines wrap within the safe zone
- The template ensures text remains visible on all social platforms (accounting for UI overlays like TikTok's username and caption)
Additional templates will be added in future updates.
Best Practices
- Keep text within safe zones — Social platforms overlay UI elements on video edges. The default template handles this automatically.
- Use high contrast — Ensure text is readable against your background (add a shadow or semi-transparent background if needed)
- Limit line length — Shorter lines are easier to read on mobile. Aim for 6-8 words per line.
- Test on mobile — Preview your video on a phone to check text readability before exporting.
