Asset Library: File Protection

File Protection ensures that the audio files and artwork you are actively distributing to streaming platforms can't be accidentally changed or deleted.

How File Protection Works

Once you attach a file to a release and officially submit it to our team, that file is automatically Protected.

• What This Means: Protected files cannot be renamed, replaced, or deleted. Important details tied to the file (like the ISRC code, song duration, or linked artists) are locked in to ensure we send the exact right information to platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
• Reusing Files: You can still reuse a protected file in a brand-new release (like putting a previously released single onto a new album). The file will simply bring its protected information over to the new release automatically, saving you time!

When is a file safe to edit?

Your file is completely safe to edit or delete as long as the release it belongs to is in one of these stages:

• Draft
• Pending Label Review (If you are an artist submitting to your label, you can edit it until your label manager approves it)
• Rejected (If our team needs you to make a quick fix)
• Taken Down (Removed from stores)

Once your release moves forward (e.g., In Review, Pending Release, or Released), your files are protected to ensure your delivery goes smoothly!
