Artists & Teams Overview

The DopplerTown Distribution Portal is designed to support everyone from solo independent musicians to large-scale record labels. Every account operates as an isolated workspace, managing its own catalog, artists, and team members based on its subscription.

Account Types

  • Label Partners: High-volume or managed accounts designed for record labels and management agencies. They allow for multiple Main Artists, larger teams, and the ability to invite external collaborators with specialized access.
  • Independent Artist Accounts: Designed for solo artists or small collectives. These accounts are usually focused around a single primary Main Artist and typically managed by a solo owner or a very small team.

Artists vs. Contributors

When adding credits to your music, there is a distinction between managed Artists and text-based Contributors:

  • Artists (Main & Featured): These are managed profiles within your account. They count against your plan's limits, can be assigned to specific team members, and are the primary entities billed against your subscription.
  • Contributors (Composers, Lyricists, Producers): These are text-based credits to ensure everyone who worked on the track is properly acknowledged. Contributors do not have managed profiles and do not count against your plan limits. Note: Legal names are often mandatory for certain contributor roles to ensure accurate royalty collection.

Privacy & Security

Every account is completely private and secure. Team members only have access to the specific account they are invited to. If a user is assigned an "Artist" role, their view is restricted exclusively to the catalog for that specific artist.
